Why Tommy Hilfiger is our favourite brand

Tommy Hilfiger is one of the leading names in the fashion industry, but like all great fashion franchises, it had to start somewhere. In a world where names such as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein are already on the names of every bodies lips, how did a young promising designer by the name of Tommy Hilfiger capture the spotlight?

This billboard, the hangman design, now iconic was advertised in Manhattan in 1986 caused such a stir of controversy that allowed Hilfiger to sit on his perch with the very few designers who are still relevant today.

Why do I like this billboard you ask? We are in control of what we do in our lives and success is generated from the hard work you put in. The amount of balls it took to put this billboard up already comparing himself to the greats that are Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, and Calvin Klein is not measurable.

Just because there are already people out there doing what you are doing, doesn't mean you can't become one of the best in that craft. What this billboard shows is courage, it shows the determination and self-belief. It gives me motivation, of course, there are plenty of other vintage clothing shops out there, but who's to say what we do and the work we put in isn't as good as the other guys.

This goes out to you as well, you might be a photographer, a writer, a plumber, a teacher, it doesn't matter. If you have the self-belief and believe that you're good at what you do then you will succeed.

Of course this could of back-fired. People could have turned up at Tommy's shop and the product he was selling might of been low quality, poor design. And then he becomes a laughing stock.

Life is about the chances you take, not the ones you don't.

I myself am a huge advocate of Tommy Hilfiger, love all of his work, from his bold brash designs and hip-hop vibe it is definitely an eye-catching brand that has vintage pieces that are still relevant today.
